AI is everywhere right now.
And if you’re running an eCommerce brand, it probably feels like you should be using it
…but no one’s really telling you how to use it in a way that actually supports your business.
So you end up either:
– Not using it at all
– Or using it for everything… and wondering why things feel a bit off
Let’s simplify it.
What AI is actually for
AI isn’t here to replace your strategy.
It’s here to:
– Speed things up
– Support your thinking
– Help you execute faster
But the direction? That still needs to come from you.
✅ What to use AI for
Content support (not creation from scratch)
AI is brilliant for getting you started.
You can use it for:
– Blog outlines
– Email drafts
– Product description starting points
But the magic happens when you refine it.
Because AI doesn’t know your customer the way you do.
Customer insight & ideas
This is one of the most underrated uses.
You can ask:
– “What questions would a customer have before buying this?”
– “What objections might they have?”
This is incredibly helpful when refining your product pages and messaging.
Shopify support (hello, Sidekick 👋)
Shopify Sidekick is such a great tool for quick answers and saving time.
One of my favourite ways to use it is for analytics questions like:
“What was my best selling product over the last 3 months?”
Instead of digging through reports, you get a quick, clear answer — and can move straight into action.
Email & Klaviyo support
AI can help you:
– Brainstorm flow ideas
– Generate subject line options
– Explore segmentation ideas
It’s like having a sounding board — not a strategist.
Light data interpretation
You can use AI to guide your thinking with prompts like:
– “What might be causing a low conversion rate?”
– “What should I review next?”
But again — it’s there to support your decisions, not make them.
Quick wins in Shopify (like custom CSS)
This is one I use all the time.
If I need a small tweak in Shopify — like adjusting spacing, font sizes, or styling a section — I’ll use ChatGPT to generate custom CSS.
It’s such a time-saver for quick updates, especially when you don’t want to dig through theme files for something minor.
🚫 What not to use AI for
This is where things can quietly go wrong.
Your entire website copy
AI-generated copy often sounds… fine.
But “fine” doesn’t convert.
It lacks depth, emotion, and the nuance that actually connects with your customer.
Final product descriptions
Product pages are where conversion happens.
They need:
– Clear messaging
– Strong positioning
– Emotional connection
AI can help you start — but it shouldn’t be your final version.
Strategy decisions
AI doesn’t know your:
– Customer
– Brand positioning
– Business goals
So while it can suggest ideas, it can’t replace strategic thinking.
Blind implementation
If you’re making changes because “ChatGPT said so”…
that’s usually where things start to feel messy.
🛠️ Tools you can use
Keep it simple:
– ChatGPT → ideas, drafts, quick fixes (like CSS)
– Claude → refining longer-form content and tone
– Shopify Sidekick → platform-specific insights and answers
The tools are helpful.
But how you use them is what actually makes the difference.
Bringing it all together
Using AI to:
– Save time (without cutting corners)
– Feel more confident in your decisions
– And actually move your business forward
That’s when it becomes powerful.
Final thought
If you’re using AI but still feel unsure what’s actually working (or what to focus on next), that’s usually a sign you don’t need more tools…
You need clarity.
That’s exactly what I help with inside:
