And what it means for your next product, promo or post
If you’re anything like most eComm founders I know, you’re constantly bouncing between:
“What should we launch next?”
“Why aren’t these ads converting?”
and
“Are people even buying right now?”
So if you’ve been feeling a little unsure about what’s landing with customers lately, you’re not alone. That’s where trend data can be surprisingly helpful — not just for curiosity’s sake, but for planning your next product drop, content idea, or campaign theme.
This month, I’ve pulled together insights from Shopify’s official trending products report, combined with patterns I’m seeing across client accounts and insider groups. Here’s what’s trending — and how to use that info in a smart, practical way.
1. The Craft Boom is Back
According to Shopify’s data, creative categories are surging — from candle-making kits and DIY jewellery to toy craft boxes and perfume-making materials.
It’s not just a one-off. Across the board, I’m seeing signs that people are craving more creative outlets and tactile, at-home experiences — especially in colder months.
How to use this trend:
-
Bundle or position products as “creative kits” or giftable hobby starters
-
Use Reels to show the process or how things are made
-
Frame your product as something to enjoy, not just use
2. Performance & Movement Are Trending
Footwear for sport and movement was a major standout in Shopify’s report — including cycling shoes, dance shoes, and activewear categories. Add to that a surge in e-scooters and cycling accessories, and it’s clear that people are gearing up again.
Even if you’re not in fitness or transport, the themes here are valuable: energy, freedom, confidence, momentum.
How to use this trend:
-
Position your product as part of a lifestyle with movement or joy
-
Use action shots or messaging like “for life in motion”
-
Tap into seasonal shifts (spring = fresh starts, movement, new routines)
3. Home Refreshes Are Still Going Strong
The Shopify blog showed strong growth in categories like garden products, large appliances, and home upgrades — from flower bulbs to dishwashers.
It’s a reminder that your customers may be spending more time at home, or investing in making their space feel better. Even fragrance diffusers and frozen drink makers are having a moment.
How to use this trend:
-
Highlight how your product helps refresh, reset, or restyle a space
-
Use lifestyle imagery that taps into comfort, coziness, or glow-ups
-
Reposition existing products as part of a home ritual
4. The Sleep + Self-Care Combo
Health and beauty categories continue to trend upwards — particularly anything that supports sleep, rest, or relaxation. Think: body mists, massage tools, and light wellness accessories.
From what I’m seeing across clients and eComm groups, “comfort” continues to sell — and that includes everything from sleep aids to softer fabrics to emotionally supportive messaging.
How to use this trend:
-
Market your product as part of a routine (e.g. wind-down, get-ready, stay-cozy)
-
Lean into comfort, calm, and ease in your copy
-
Frame purchases as small moments of self-care
5. What This Means for You
If you’re a founder planning your next campaign, content shoot, or email promo — use these trends as a springboard. You don’t need to launch a new product to stay relevant. You just need to meet your customer where they are.
You could:
-
Refresh your product descriptions or hero banners to reflect seasonal behaviours
-
Bundle existing items into trend-aligned offers (e.g. “Home Refresh Kit,” “Movement Essentials”)
-
Use trend-aligned hooks in your subject lines or campaign messaging
